Somerset Wildlife Photography

A place to find out all about our wildlife photography service. We are in the process of building this website as a platform to land on to find out about wildlife within Somerset and to give a photographic guide for the identification of all wildlife including insects. There is a section for days out and where to find wildlife within the beautiful county of Somerset.

North Somerset Nature Net

A network set up to provide all local conservation groups a place to chat and share ideas. It also encourages joined up work and training by linking groups together. Merging the boundaries between local villages and working to protect wildlife across the whole of North Somerset.

Somerset Wildlife Trust

A link through to the Somerset Wildlife Trusts website giving details of their many reserves. Although just outside of North Somerset the reserves offer some outstanding opportunities to see lots of wildlife and are well worth the extra travel.

Avon Wildlife Trust

Avon Wildlife Trust has about twenty reserves in the North Somerset area made up of various habitats and including a diverse range of wildlife and flora.

NSSBees North Somerset Sustainable Bees formerly YABeeP

A very active local group specialising in bees & bee keeping. They use a sustainable approach and offer lots of opportunities and training for interested people and potential keepers.

Backwell Environment Trust

A local group managing woodland on their two reserves situated on Backwell Hill. They also offer great opportunities for local people to get involved with a diverse range of activities.

Recording Wildlife

One of the most important aspects of conservation is recording what we see. Every area has an ‘Environmental Records Recording Centre’ and below i have put links for the two that cover Somerset and North Somerset (Old Avon area)

BRERC - Bristol Regional Environmental Records Centre

BRERC covers the whole of the old 'Avon Area' including North Somerset

SOMERC - Somerset Environmental Records Centre

SMERC covers Mendip, Sedgemoor, South Somerset, West Somerset and Taunton Deane areas
